Summa Summarum
In summary, the term 'Summa Summarum' (Total Today 2.0) is used to denote the data accumulated from the commencement of the Ukrainian war, i.e. from the war's start on 24 February 2022. This figure encompasses the aggregate of all Russian military fatalities incurred during the Ukrainian war. The underlying logic of calculation employed in both versions (Total Today 1.0 & 2.0) is straightforward: the value of one Russian soldier is equivalent to one euro.
It is anticipated that all casualties of the Russian army will provide support to Ukraine. The artwork serves to illustrate the value of the financial support provided, with all income being allocated to support Ukraine. The project offers to consider the acquisition of an artwork, such as 1 000 000, which symbolises the Russian losses incurred on the 12th of June 2025. It is imperative to note that this purchase is to be accompanied by a donation of 1 000 000 euros, which will be allocated to support Ukraine. It is evident that all subsequent artistic expressions of Summa Summarum undergo a daily augmentation.
The initial Total Today (1.0) index is based on data concerning the number of Russian military casualties per day in Ukraine. While the data is objective in nature, it is also subjective in essence, based on the perspective of one country. The magnitude of this loss is reflected in the continuous loss of life, with the daily toll of fatalities and injuries being a testament to the ongoing severity of the conflict. This approach is subjective in nature and serves to reduce the events to pure fact. Should this number be deciphered, it would appear to suggest that suffering, blood and death are all involved.
