Acid Truth & +

Vegas Šimbelis’ Acid Truth explores uncertainty in both the illicit drug market and contemporary information culture. Using ambiguous tablets as a metaphor, the work reflects a post-truth era where facts are overshadowed by disinformation and manipulation.

Referencing his 1997 video + (displayed nearby at the RAVE NATION exhibition), Šimbelis re-evaluates past work in light of today’s global issues. The tablet imprints, reminiscent of social media icons, comment on the superficiality and manipulation of contemporary phenomena.

INTRO Archive

At the turn of the 21st century, as Lithuania’s cultural field redefined itself, INTRO emerged in Vilnius as a living organism—where disciplines, social energy, and freedom converged. Operating from 2001 to 2008 in the former Tiesa printing house, it reshaped how contemporary art was made, experienced, and shared.

One of Lithuania’s first independent art centers, INTRO fused exhibitions, music, film, performances, fashion, festivals, and workshops into a hybrid ecosystem that dissolved boundaries between media and audiences. It became an epicenter of cultural exchange, drawing local and international creators into a shared, experimental space.

This project revisits INTRO as a formative phenomenon. Archival materials, films, narratives, and artworks reconstruct a multi-layered portrait of a time when new artistic identities were forged—revealing INTRO as a catalyst that shaped contemporary Lithuanian art and the creative values of a generation.

INTRO Archive as photographs, graphic design and furniture design were exhibited at Rave Nation exhibition.
